Abstract:
A modified olefin copolymer characterized by being obtained by graft−polymerizing an alkenylaromatic hydrocarbon and&sol or an unsaturated carboxylic acid with an olefin copolymer comprising repeating units derived from a linear &agr −olefin and&sol or ethylene and repeating units derived from the following vinyl compound (I) or (II)&semi and an adhesive which contains the resin as an active ingredient. The adhesive has further improved adhesion to adherends such as olefin resins, e.g., polyethylene and polypropylene. Vinyl compound (I): a vinyl compound represented by CH2=CH−R, wherein the substituent R has steric parameters Es and B1 of −1.64 or smaller and 1.53 or larger, respectively. Vinyl compound (II): a vinyl compound represented by CH2=CH−R', wherein the substituent R' is a secondary alkyl or tertiary alkyl group.
