Title:
MOLECULAR WEIGHT MEASUREMENT METHOD AND SOLVENT FOR USE IN MEASUREMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2019/225357
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In this molecular weight measurement method, a sample liquid in which a solvent is mixed with a sample comprising a polyester or a polyester degradation product is prepared in a first step S101. The solvent used comprises chloroform and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol and has an organic base added thereto. The organic base is at least one of a primary amine, a secondary amine, a tertiary amine, and a heterocyclic amine. Next, each of the amount of terephthalic acid terminals and the amount of hydroxyl terminals in the sample liquid is measured by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy for hydrogen atoms in a second step S102. Next, the amount of terephthalic acid terminals and the amount of hydroxyl terminals measured in the second step S102 are used to calculate the number average molecular weight of the sample in a third step S103.
