Abstract:
This motor drive device (10) has: an inverter (15) that supplies AC current; a switching unit (17) that switches the number of one or more permanent magnet synchronous motors (20a, 20b) to which AC current is supplied from the inverter; a detection unit (19) that detects detection values (vRu, vRv, vRw) corresponding to AC current (iua, iva, iwa) supplied to the one or more permanent magnet synchronous motors (20a, 20b); and a control device (18) that controls the inverter (15) and the switching unit (17), wherein the control device (18) sets an overcurrent cutoff threshold value (THc) to values (TH1, TH2) according to the number of motors, and when the detection values (vRu, vRv, vRw) are the overcurrent cutoff threshold value (THc) or greater, has the inverter (15) stop supplying AC current (iua, iva, iwa) to the one or more permanent magnet synchronous motors (20a, 20b).
