Abstract:
This motor drive device 100 is for driving an electric blower equipped with a single-phase permanent magnet (PM) motor 3, the motor drive device being provided with: a single-phase inverter 2 for applying AC voltage to the single-phase PM motor 3; a rotor position detection unit 7 for outputting to an inverter control unit 4 a position detection signal S_rotation being a signal corresponding to the rotation position of a rotor 3 of the single-phase PM motor 3; a motor current detection unit 5 for outputting to the inverter control unit 4 a signal corresponding to a motor current Im that flows in the single-phase PM motor 3; and an inverter control unit 4 for outputting a drive signal to switching elements 211-214 of the single-phase inverter 2 on the basis of the position detection signal S_rotation and the motor current Im. The single-phase inverter 2 performs control to increase or decrease available power supplied to the single-phase motor 3, and the electric blower changes the air flow rate by the increase or decrease in available power.
