Abstract:
This invention relates to a moxa composition and a herbal method. The moxa composition according to the present invention comprises 100 parts by weight of moxa powder, 20-80 parts by weight of palm bark and 1 part by weight of pistachio, ginger or elecampane herbal material. The manufacturing method comprises the following steps; a) a step wherein moxa is added to salt water, aged, dried and carbonised to provide moxa powder; b) a step wherein palm bark is added to salt water, aged, dried and carbonised to provide palm bark powder; c) a step wherein a paste is provided by mixing sumac extract with the compounds of one of the herbal materials chosen from pistachio, ginger or elecampane as well as moxa powder and palm bark powder and; d) a step wherein the paste is formed into a certain shape. When heated, the moxa composition according to the current invention produces neither smoke nor bad smell. The temperature can be adjusted to suit various portions of the human body such as the abdomen or high, middle or lower parts of the back. In addition, while the moxa is heated, the effect of the moxa treatment can be maximised by maintaining the temperature around the treated area above certain levels for an extended period of time.
