Abstract:
This multi-core fiber is provided with a plurality of core elements and an outer clad surrounding the plurality of core elements. The plurality of core elements each have: a core having a refractive index higher than that of the outer clad; and a low refractive index part surrounding the core and having a refractive index lower than that of the outer clad, wherein an inner radius r2 of the low refractive index part is equal to or greater than an outer radius r1 of the core, and the core elements include two or more core elements having different effective refractive indices. In the two or more core elements, r2/r1 of a first core element having the highest effective refractive index is greater than r2/r1 of a second core having the lowest effective refractive index.
