Abstract:
In order to address the problem of providing a rotary encoder that is inexpensive and exceptional in terms of versatility, this rotary encoder comprises a mechanical angle-electrical angle signal conversion unit and a nonvolatile memory. The mechanical angle-electrical angle signal conversion unit has a function for converting output information from an MR sensor unit into an incrementalized signal for generating a DC motor drive signal, and a function for converting the output information from the MR sensor unit into an absolutized signal for generating the DC motor drive signal. The nonvolatile memory retains, as initial setting data, signal conversion data for converting the output information from the MR sensor unit into signals for generating motor drive signals, the output information corresponding to the type of DC motor in which the rotary encoder is installed. The mechanical angle-electrical angle signal conversion unit converts the output information outputted from the MR sensor unit into signals for generating motor drive signals on the basis of the signal conversion data and outputs the signals during operation of the DC motor.
