Abstract:
A navigation device having map data acquisition means, a current position calculation
means, an input device, and a route search section. The map data acquisition means
acquires map data including data on a road, which data defines whether or not the
road is with a car pool lane (HOV lane). The route search section searches for a
route from a current position calculated by the current position calculation
means up to a destination inputted by the input device. When a road with a car pool
lane is included in the road obtained by the search, the route search section determines
whether the distance of travel on the road is more than or equalto a predetermined
distance. When the distance is more than or equal to the predetermined distance,
the route search section presents as the recommended route the route using the
car pool lane.
