Title:
NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1998/028804
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The electrode of a nonaqueous solvent secondary battery is made of porous material which is produced by baking active material to reduce the volume of dead spaces in the electrode in the battery casing and the electrical capacity per unit volume is increased. By using the porous material as the electrode material instead of powder material, the active material can be sufficiently brought into electrical contact with electrolyte and, on the other hand, metal foil or conductive material which is required for forming collectors can be reduced or eliminated and hence an electrical capacity per unit weight can be larger than the capacity of a conventional constitution. If the porous material is sintered into a plate, the plate has a thickness of 100 $g(m)m - 2 mm and holes whose diameters are 0.1 $g(m)m - 100 $g(m)m. The total volume of the holes is 15 - 60 % of the whole volume and thicknesses between the hollow holes are not larger than 40 $g(m)m.
