Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which has improved battery durability, while having high capacity, high density and large area. [Solution] A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which has an electric power generating element comprising a positive electrode that is obtained by forming a positive electrode active material layer containing a positive electrode active material on the surface of a positive electrode collector, a negative electrode that is obtained by forming a negative electrode active material layer containing a negative electrode active material on the surface of a negative electrode collector, and a separator, and wherein: the ratio of the rated capacity to the void volume of the negative electrode active material layer is 1.12 Ah/cc or more; the ratio of the battery area to the rated capacity is 4.0 cm2/Ah or more; and the rated capacity is 30 Ah or more. This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is configured such that variation of the void fraction of the negative electrode active material layer is 6.0% or less.
