Abstract:
Provided is a nuclear reactor unit that can suppress, with a simple structure, temperature rise in a reactor core in the event of an abnormality. This nuclear reactor unit comprises: a reactor core that has a radioactive fuel and that causes a nuclear reaction of the radioactive fuel; and a nuclear reactor vessel that contains and seals the reactor core therein. The nuclear reactor vessel includes an inner shroud that covers the entire circumference of the reactor core and an outer shroud that covers the entire circumference of the inner shroud. A first space formed between the outer shroud and the inner shroud is in a vacuum state. The inner shroud has a body part, and a communication part that is disposed in a portion of the body part and that provides communication between a second space, which is a space inside the inner shroud, and the first space when the reactor core reaches or exceeds a threshold temperature.
