Abstract:
This obstacle detection device for vehicles is equipped with: a first ultrasonic sensor (10c) for detecting the distance to an obstacle; a second ultrasonic sensor (10n) for detecting the distance to the obstacle, and positioned in a location for receiving the reflected wave from the obstacle of the ultrasonic wave transmitted by the first ultrasonic sensor; a reporting unit (30) for reporting detection of the obstacle in one or more prescribed reporting areas including a first reporting area of the first ultrasonic sensor and a second reporting area of the second ultrasonic sensor; and a control unit (24) for controlling the report content to be reported by the reporting unit. Furthermore, the control unit determines whether or not to use a first indirect wave distance and a second indirect wave distance in the determination of whether to report the detection of the obstacle in the first reporting area, on the basis of a first direct wave distance and a second direct wave distance.
