Abstract:
Disclosed is an optical 90 degree hybrid circuit wherein wavelength independence is achieved. The optical 90 degree hybrid circuit is provided with: a first light splitting means, to which a first light beam is input, for splitting the first light beam into two beams; a second light splitting means, to which a second light beam is input, for splitting the second light beam into two beams; a first light coupling means for combining one of the light beams split by the first light splitting means with one of the light beams split by the second light splitting means to generate interference light; and a second light coupling means for combining the other light beam split by the first light splitting means with the other light beam split by the second light splitting means to generate interference light. The first light splitting means comprises an optical coupler which receives the first light beam as input and outputs two light beams having an equivalent phase, and the second light splitting means comprises an optical coupler which receives the second light beam as input and outputs two light beams having a phase difference of 90 degrees.
