Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an optical amplifier having a core excitation configuration for increasing amplification efficiency. This optical amplifier comprises: an excitation light conversion fiber 11 which takes in first excitation light L1 of a first wavelength propagating in a cladding, and emits natural emission light of a second wavelength into a core; an oscillator 12 in which the natural emission light is reflected by two reflectors 15 and reciprocated in the core of the excitation light conversion fiber 11 to cause laser oscillation of second excitation light L2 of the second wavelength; and an amplification fiber 13 which is connected to the excitation light conversion fiber 11 and in which a signal light is optically amplified by means of the second excitation light L2 supplied from the excitation light conversion fiber 11 to the core.
