Abstract:
Conventionally, production errors occur even when an RGB coupler has been appropriately designed and, as a result, the designed function has been difficult to achieve with good yield. In order to address this issue, an optical circuit is provided that has a first waveguide path along which a zero-order mode light is guided and a second waveguide path that is wider than the first waveguide path and along which first-order mode light is guided. The optical circuit is characterized by: the first and second waveguide paths retaining a combination of waveguide path widths that satisfy mode conversion conditions; and by including at least a first curved section having a curved shape that curves towards the first waveguide path side.
