Abstract:
The present invention relates to an optical connector for a backplane, that optical connector being provided with a first connector affixed to the backplane and a second connector attached to a daughter board. The first connector is provided with a first optical input and output part, a guide hole, and a shutter. The shutter covers the first optical input and output part when no daughter board is inserted. The second connector is provided with a guide pin, pressing part, and second optical input and output part. The guide pin contacts the first connector first and is inserted into the guide hole in a process for inserting the daughter board. The pressing part rotates the shutter after the freedom of the second connector has been restricted by the guide pin and the guide hole. A gap into which the rotated shutter fits is present between the pressing part and the second optical input and output part. The pressing part does not contact the first connector until contact is made with the shutter in the process for inserting the daughter board.
