Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing an optical device that can have both the effect of preventing reflection of external light and an improved efficiency of use of light emitted by an organic electroluminescence element. The problem is solved by having: an organic electroluminescence substrate; a circular polarization separation layer that separates light into right circular polarization and left circular polarization, that has a liquid crystal alignment pattern in which the orientation of an optical axis derived from a liquid crystal compound changes in one direction in a plane while rotating continuously, and in which the liquid crystal compound is twisted and aligned along a helix axis extending in the thickness direction; a λ/4 plate; and a polarizer.
