Abstract:
This optical fiber cable is provided with: a tape core wire in which several optical fiber core wires are arranged; two tension members disposed on both sides of the tape core wire; and two sheets of flat plate-like interposing members disposed, at positions parallel to a line segment connecting the two tension members, with the tape core wire therebetween, wherein the two tension members and the two sheets of flat plate-like interposing members are integrally coated so as to have approximately rectangular shapes on a cable outer skin, and two pairs of tearing-off notches are formed in the longitudinal direction of the cable outer skin. In this optical fiber cable, the two sheets of flat-plate-like interposing members have lengths exceeding the length of the line segment connecting each of the two pairs of tearing-off notches. In addition, a buffer material is provided between the two sheets of flat plate-like interposing members, the distance between the two sheets of flat plate-like interposing members is maintained at approximately a predetermined value by the buffer material, and the buffer material is in contact with the tape core wire.
