Abstract:
The present invention provides an optical-fiber coating remover including: an optical-fiber immobilizing part that holds a coated optical fiber formed by coating the periphery of a glass fiber; and a coating remover body provided so as to be movable into and out of contact with the optical-fiber immobilizing part and having a coating removing section for heating the coating in the vicinity of an end of the coated optical fiber held by the optical-fiber immobilizing part by using a heating part and for cutting the coating by using a pair of cutting blades, wherein the optical-fiber immobilizing part is moved away from the coating remover body in a state where the coating has been cut by using the coating removing section, whereby the glass fiber in the vicinity of the end is pulled out of the coating in the vicinity of the end. The coating removing section includes a first heat conducting medium that conducts heat generated by the heating part, and at least one of the pair of cutting blades is heated by the heat conducted via the first heat conducting medium.
