Abstract:
This optical fiber characteristic measurement device (1-3) comprises a photodetection unit (15, 15A) for detecting Brillouin scattered light (LS) obtained by causing light to enter an optical fiber (FUT), an intensity acquisition unit (16, 16A) for obtaining the signal intensities of predefined reference frequencies (f1, f2) from detection signals (S1-S3) output from the photodetection unit, and a measurement unit (18, 18A, 18B) for measuring a characteristic of the optical fiber by determining, from the reference frequency signal intensities acquired by the intensity acquisition unit, the peak frequency of a Brillouin gain spectrum that is the spectrum of the Brillouin scattered light.
