Abstract:
An optical fiber according to the present disclosure has a stepped index core that is a pure silica core and, in consideration of practical cutoff conditions, has a relative refractive index difference set at 0.60% or less and in which light in an LPm1 mode with a practical cross-section of 250 µm2 or greater propagates. Light in two or more modes or only LPm1 mode propagates in this optical fiber as a transmission path.
