Abstract:
An optical fiber (10A) comprises a glass fiber (13) including a core (11) and a cladding (12). The cladding (12) includes an inner cladding (121) covering an outer circumference of the core (11), a trench (122) covering an outer circumference of the inner clad (121), and an outer cladding (123) covering an outer circumference of the trench (122). The refractive index of the inner cladding (121) is lower than the refractive index of the core (11). The refractive index of the trench (122) is lower than the refractive index of the inner cladding (121). The refractive index of the outer cladding (123) is higher than the refractive index of the trench (122) and lower than the refractive index of the core (11). The core (11) contains germanium as an additive. The average chlorine mass concentration of the inner cladding (121) is 500 to 5000 ppm. Let Δ1 represent the relative refractive index difference of the core (11) with respect to the refractive index of the outer clad (123), Δ2 represent the relative refractive index difference of the inner clad (121) with respect to the refractive index of the outer clad (123), Δ3 represent the relative refractive index difference of the trench (122) with respect to the refractive index of the outer clad (123), r1 represent the radius of the outer circumference of the core (11), r2 represent the radius of the outer circumference of the inner clad (121), and r3 represent the radius of the outer circumference of the trench (122). Then, r2/r1 is 2.2 to 3.6, r3−r2 is 3 to 10 μm, Δ1−Δ2 is 0.15 to 0.40%, |Δ2| is 0.10% or less, and Δ3 is −0.70 to −0.10%. The mode field diameter with respect to light with a wavelength of 1310 nm is 8.8 to 9.6 μm. The bending loss with respect to light with a wavelength of 1625 nm when wound around a mandrel with a diameter of 15 mm is 1.0 dB or less per turn. The bending loss with respect to light with a wavelength of 1625 nm when wound around a mandrel with a diameter of 30 mm is 0.1 dB or less per 10 turns. The zero dispersion wavelength is 1300 to 1324 nm. The cable cutoff wavelength is 1260 nm or less.
