Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an optical film 100 having a liquid crystal layer 30, said method including: a first alignment process step for overlapping a first mask 81 having a first opening 81a onto a film, and imparting a region 22 of the film corresponding to the first opening 81a with a liquid crystal alignment capability in a first direction; and a liquid crystal layer formation step for applying a liquid crystal composition containing a liquid crystal material onto the film that has been subjected to the first alignment process, and aligning the liquid crystal material by heating and subsequently fixing the alignment to form the liquid crystal layer 30. This invention makes it possible to easily manufacture the optical film 100 having a design without damaging the liquid crystal layer 30.
