Abstract:
An optical head (10) focuses an optical beam for a servo onto at least one servo layer and focuses an optical beam for recording and reproduction onto a plurality of recording layers, a first-time recording unit (20) preliminarily records layer position information for identifying the position of each recording layer at a given position of each recording layer before recording user data by using the optical beam for recording and reproduction, a layer position detection unit (21) reads the layer position information in a given recording layer by using the optical beam for recording and reproduction and detects the given recording layer where the focus of the optical beam for recording and reproduction is positioned from among a plurality of recording layers on the basis of the read layer position information, and a retrieve unit (22) moves the focus of the optical beam for recording and reproduction to a desired position on the basis of the detected layer position.
