An optical-member holding structure (LH) is provided with: an optical member; a chassis (15) provided with a plate-shaped part (15a) extending along a plate surface of the optical member; a frame (13) provided with a sandwiching part (23a) which, along with the plate-shaped part (15a), sandwiches an outer peripheral edge of the optical member, said frame (13) having a frame main body (23) provided with an opening (23d) capable of having the optical member and the chassis (15) inserted therein, and bracket parts (23b) which face a side of the plate-shaped part (15a) with a clearance (C) therebetween, said side being opposite to the optical-member side of the plate-shaped part (15a); a back cabinet (14) attached so as to be disposed at a side of the bracket parts (23b), said side being opposite to the plate-shaped-part (15a) side of the bracket parts (23b); and first shaft members (27) which are disposed between the back cabinet (14) and the plate-shaped part (15a), and which maintain the clearance (C) between the bracket parts (23b) and the plate-shaped part (15a).
