Abstract:
An optical transmission system (10) that comprises: a plurality of transmission devices such as transponders or OXCs that are provided at stations (11–15) that are connected over a communication network; a control device (20); and a proxy OXC (5o2) that is a proxy transmission device. The control device 20 is provided at a single control station (14) from among the stations. The control device (20) centrally controls the transmission devices at the stations (11–15) on the basis of physical NW configuration information (20D) that is stored at a DB (21) and includes configuration information. When any of the transmission devices is replaced with a new OXC (5o3) that is a new transmission device, the proxy OXC (5o2) communicates between the new OXC (5o3) and the control device (20) on behalf of the new OXC (5o3) until necessary configuration settings have been set for the new OXC (5o3).
