Abstract:
The present invention calculates the optical power of each wavelength channel without using a beam splitter. This optical transmitter multiplexes and outputs a plurality of wavelength channels, said optical transmitter comprising: a first light source; one or more second light sources, the wavelengths of which differ from that of the first light source and differ from each other; an optical multiplexer that allows output light from the first light source to pass through from a first end surface to a facing second end surface and reflects the same using a mirror formed on the second end surface, allows output light from the second light source(s) to pass through a wavelength filter(s) formed on the first end surface and reflects the same using the mirror, and reciprocates output light of each wavelength channel between the mirror and the wavelength filter(s) and sequentially multiplexes the same; a first monitor PD that monitors some of the output light from the first light source; one or more second monitor PDs that monitor some of the output light from the second light source(s); and a control circuit that calculates the optical power of the respective output light from the first light source and each of the one or more second light sources on the basis of the output from the first monitor PD and the one or more second monitor PDs.
