Abstract:
This optical transmitter is provided with: a first narrow-band signal processing unit to which a first signal and a second signal are inputted, and which outputs a first narrow-band signal indicating a sum of respective in-phase components of the first and second signals, a second narrow-band signal indicating a difference between respective orthogonal components of the first and second signals, a third narrow-band signal indicating a difference between the respective in-phase components of the first and second signals, and a fourth narrow-band signal indicating a sum of the respective orthogonal components of the first and second signals; a wide-band signal generation unit which generates a first wide-band signal by frequency-shifting the first and second narrow-band signals by multiplying the first and second narrow-band signals by sine-wave signals orthogonal thereto, and combining the frequency-shifted first and second narrow-band signals, and generates a second wide-band signal by frequency-shifting the third and fourth narrow-band signals by multiplying the third and fourth narrow-band signals by sine-wave signals orthogonal thereto, and combining the frequency-shifted third and fourth narrow-band signals; and an optical modulator which modulates an optical signal using the first and second wide-band signals, and outputs the modulated optical signal.
