Abstract:
A novel optically active binaphthol derivative with which a higher reaction yield and a higher optical yield (selectivity) can be attained in asymmetric synthesis and which is useful as an asymmetric catalyst, etc.; an asymmetric catalyst comprising the derivative; and a method of asymmetric synthesis. The optically active fluorinated binaphthol derivative is represented by formula (I) wherein R¿1? and R¿2? each represents a fluorohydrocarbon group.
