Abstract:
In this optimization device, a random number generator is caused to generate suitable random numbers when an annealing process is intermittently performed. This optimization device comprises: the random number generator, which operates either in a first operation mode, in which the random number generator generates a sequence of random numbers after performing an initialization operation, or in a second operation mode, in which the random number generator generates a sequence of random numbers without performing an initialization operation; an anneal calculation unit which performs an annealing process using the random numbers generated by the random number generator; and an operation instruction unit which causes the random number generator to begin to operate in the first operation mode when the anneal calculation unit initiates the annealing process, then causes the random number generator to stop operating when the anneal calculation unit interrupts the annealing process, and then causes the random number generator to begin to operate in the second operation mode when the anneal calculation unit resumes the annealing process.
