Abstract:
The present invention relates to an organic electroluminescent element comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a light-emitting layer, and a hole injection layer, wherein: the light-emitting layer is provided between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; the hole injection layer is provided between the positive electrode and the light-emitting layer; the light-emitting layer contains a polycyclic heterocyclic compound represented by formula (1); and the hole injection layer contains tetraarylborate ions. (In formula (1), the ring a, the ring b, the ring c, and Y are as defined in the description.)
