Abstract:
An organic electroluminescent element that exhibits high luminance and high reliability, ensures good thermal stability, enables arbitrarily obtaining luminescent colors of relatively large wavelength, such as red color, and realizes high color purity; and a luminescent device or display including the same. In particular, an organic electroluminescent element comprising glass plate (1) and, superimposed thereon in the following order, positive electrode (2), hole transport layer (10), luminescent layer (11), electron transport layer (12) and negative electrode (3) wherein the luminescent layer (11) is comprised of a mixture of at least one styryl compound of the following general formula [I] and a material capable of charge transport; and a luminescent device or display wherein the organic electroluminescent element is used in at least part of picture elements. General formula [I]: Y-CH=CH-X [wherein X represents an aryl group, e.g., a phenyl group having a substituent such as cyano or methyl, and Y represents a group whose skeleton consists of an aminophenyl group, etc.].
