Abstract:
An organic electroluminescent element which is provided with an organic compound layer between a pair of electrodes and which is characterized in that the organic compound layer comprises a light emitting layer that contains a host material and a phosphorescent dopant material and the host material is selected from among compounds wherein the difference (∆ST) between the singlet-state energy (EgS) and the energy gap at 77 [K] (Eg77k) satisfies mathematical formula (1) and the singlet-state energy (EgS) satisfies mathematical formula (2). Mathematical formula (1) ∆ST = EgS - Eg77k < 0.4 [eV] (1) Mathematical formula (2) EgS ≥ 2.90 [eV] (2)
