Abstract:
This organic hydride production apparatus 1 is provided with: an electrolyte film 2 which has a first surface 2a and a second surface 2b that face each other and which transfers protons; a cathode 4 which is arranged on the first surface 2a side of the electrolyte film 2; and an anode 6 which is arranged on the second surface 2b side of the electrolyte film 2. The cathode 4 has a cathode catalyst layer 10 in which a hydride of interest is hydrogenated with protons to produce an organic hydride. The anode 6 oxidizes water to produce protons. The cathode catalyst layer 10 comprises: a cathode catalyst for hydrogenating the hydride of interest; a porous catalyst support that supports the cathode catalyst thereon; and a non-porous body for blocking the flow of the hydride of interest and the organic hydride.
