Abstract:
A positive electrode material for Li ion secondary battery, obtained by firing a mixture of Li compound, Mn compound and Al compound, characterized in that the positive electrode material comprises a spinel type lithium manganate of the general formula Li1+xMn2-x-yAlyO4 and further comprises Al in non-solid-solution form, which does not form any solid solution in the spinel type lithium manganate, in an amount of 20 to 80% based on the total Al contained in the positive electrode material. The high-temperature performance of the battery can be improved by causing a portion of added Al to be present in the state of not forming any solid solution in the spinel structure.
