Abstract:
The present application provides a packet transmission method, a local edge device, and a machine readable storage medium. The method comprises: receiving a first notification message from a peer edge device, analyzing the first notification message to obtain a first host route, and adding a first forwarding entry into a software forwarding table, the first forwarding entry comprising a corresponding relation between the first host route and an interface receiving the first notification message; and querying a hardware forwarding table by means of the destination address of a packet after receiving the packet, if there is no forwarding entry matching the destination address in the hardware forwarding table, querying the software forwarding table by means of the destination address of the packet, and if there is a forwarding entry matching the destination address in the software forwarding table, sending the packet according to the forwarding entry matching the destination address. The technical solution in the present application prevents a packet from being broadcasted in a data center of a local edge device, thereby saving bandwidth resources in the data center, avoiding interruption of services of the host, and improving user experience.
