Abstract:
The present application provides a paging method, a communication apparatus, and a system. In the method, a terminal device sends first information to a first network device, the first information comprising the signal coverage level of the terminal device, as well as whether the terminal device has the capability to receive a first signal; the terminal device receives second information from the first network device, the second information being used to instruct the terminal device to receive the first signal or a second signal, the first signal being used for paging or waking up the terminal device, the second signal being used for paging the terminal device or indicating whether the terminal device receives a page, the formats of the first signal and the second signal being different, and the formats comprising at least one of the following: encoded, modulated, and multiple-addressed; and the terminal device receives from the first network device the signal indicated by the second information. By means of the described method, the flexibility of a terminal device receiving paging messages is improved. According to the specific application scenario, a terminal device can receive from a network device signals the demodulation of which consumes less power, thus reducing the power consumption of the terminal device.
