The present invention relates to a paper money deposit and withdrawal device for an automated teller machine, in which the angle of a front plate is adjusted, or the angle of the front plate and the position of a pickup roller of a separation unit are simultaneously adjusted in correspondence to relevant processes, when customers deposit cash or make cash withdrawals by using one cash receiving space in a customer reception unit of the paper money deposit and withdrawal device, thereby controlling the flow of the paper money introduced into the paper receiving space in a stable manner, and improving the reliability of the paper money deposit and withdrawal operations.
