Abstract:

This parking assistance device (5) is provided with a path generation unit (57) which, on the basis of the vehicle travel path of a driver performing a parking operation of a vehicle (V), and on the basis of the surroundings of the vehicle on the travel path, generates a target path to be taken by a vehicle during vehicle parking. Further, the parking assistance device is provided with a following control unit (60) which causes the vehicle to move automatically along the target path to the planned parking position. Under prescribed conditions, the following control unit temporarily stops the vehicle in a position other than the planned parking position when automatically moving the vehicle along the target path to the planned parking position.
