Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to obtain a parking support device and a parking support method that enable smooth parking of an own vehicle in a desired parking space while preventing loss of convenience. A parking support device (10) comprises: a user setting unit (110) that receives input of user setting information about parking of the own vehicle; a parking space searching unit (120) that searches a parkable parking space in which the own vehicle can be parked; a target parking space selection unit (130) that selects a target parking space in which the own vehicle is parked on the basis of the user setting information when a plurality of parkable parking spaces are detected; a parking operation supporting unit (150) that supports parking operation of parking the own vehicle in the target parking space; and a parking operation support start determination unit (140) that determines from a state of the own vehicle whether or not a determination condition for determining whether the parking operation can be started or not and controls the parking operation support unit to start support of the parking operation when the determination condition is satisfied.
