Abstract:
Provided is a passenger conveyor capable of detecting a delay in handrail movement during normal operation. This passenger conveyor comprises: a plurality of steps with demarcation on the tread surface; a handrail having a plurality of markings at regular intervals on the surface; a camera installed above the passenger conveyor, in a position to capture images of the plurality of steps and the handrail at the same time; and a calculation device that uses the image information captured by the camera to calculate the step speed, which is the speed at which the plurality of steps moves, by calculating the speed of the demarcation, calculate the handrail speed, which is the speed at which the handrail moves, by calculating the speed of the plurality of markings, and determine whether or not the handrail speed is lagging behind the step speed.
