Title:
PEPTIDES THAT BIND TO EPITHELIAL CELL ADHESION MOLECULE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/042209
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
[Problem] To provide novel peptides having a high binding capacity to the epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), said peptides being easy to produce by chemical synthesis or a genetic engineering method. [Solution] By improving phage library screening methods, the present invention has led to success in screening for peptides having a higher binding capacity than peptides of the prior art. Furthermore, using previously-disclosed peptides having EpCAM binding capacity as lead compounds, a diverse group of derivates thereof was produced, and peptides that bind strongly to EpCAM were selected from said group. The peptides that were obtained exhibit an EpCAM binding capacity that is at least ten-fold that of peptides of the prior art, and are effective in detecting and diagnosing cancer cells.
