Abstract:
A periphery monitoring device (30): is applied to a vehicle provided with a distance measuring sensor (21) for transmitting an exploratory wave and receiving a reflected wave of the exploratory wave; sets an alert region behind a host vehicle (40); and if an object is detected in the alert region by means of the distance measuring sensor, causes a collision suppression action to be performed to suppress a collision with the object. The periphery monitoring device comprises: an acquiring unit for acquiring demarcation information indicating the presence of a demarcation line in a lane; a recognizing unit for recognizing a position of the demarcation line on the basis of the demarcation information; and an alert region setting unit for setting the alert region on the basis of the position of the demarcation line recognized by the recognizing unit.
