Abstract:

　The objective of the present invention is to provide a magnetic recording medium including a first magnetic recording layer having high coercivity and a granular structure in which the magnetic crystal grains are well separated. This magnetic recording medium includes a nonmagnetic substrate, a first seed layer, and a first magnetic recording layer formed on the first seed layer; the first seed layer containing Pt, the first magnetic recording layer having one or a plurality of magnetic layers; and the magnetic layer contacting the first seed layer containing Fe, Pt, and Ti, and having a granular structure comprising magnetic crystal grains having an L10-type ordered alloy containing Fe and Pt, and a nonmagnetic crystal grain boundary containing Ti.
