Title:
PHASE DIFFERENCE FILM, METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME, POLARIZING PLATE, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/165361
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a phase difference film whereby the features of a cellulose ester having an acyl group substitution degree less than 2.0 are employed and compatibility can be improved to thereby achieve significant phase difference performance even with a thin film thickness, and whereby high contrast and optical transmittance can be realized in a liquid crystal display device. The present invention also addresses the problem of providing a polarizing plate and liquid crystal display device equipped with the phase difference film. This phase difference film, containing a cellulose ester obtained by substituting the hydroxyl group of a glucose unit constituting cellulose with a C2 or higher acyl group, is characterized in satisfying a specific formula where the degree to which hydroxyl groups at the 2-position, the 3-position, and the 6-position in the glucose units are substituted by an acyl group are DS2, DS3, and DS6, respectively.
