Abstract:
Disclosed are: a photocatalytic coating solution; and a photocatalytic thin film produced from the photocatalytic coating solution. The coating solution comprises (A) photocatalyst particles and (B) a binder component and optionally (C) a water-soluble Lewis acid compound. The binder component contained as the component (B) comprises a hydrolysis-condensation product produced by hydrolyzing a hydrolysable silicon compound in a mixed solvent composed of water and a polar organic solvent in the presence of a basic compound. The photocatalyst particles contained as the component (A) are dispersed in the coating solution, and the coating solution has a pH value ranging from 5-8. The coating solution has good potlife and good coatability, can be dried and cured at a relatively low temperature, and enables the formation of a hydrophilic thin film having high transparency and a long-lasting catalytic activity.
