The present invention provides a photochromic compound which is represented by general formula 1. In general formula 1, each of R30 and R31 independently represents a linear or branched alkyl group having two or more carbon atoms with or without one or more substituents, a cyclic alkyl group having three or more carbon atoms with or without one or more substituents, or a group represented by –(R100)nR101 with or without one or more substituents; R100 represents an alkyleneoxy group; R101 represents an alkyl group; n represents an integer of 1 or more; the total number of carbon atoms in the n alkyleneoxy groups represented by R100 and the alkyl group represented by R101 is 2 or more; each of R32 to R35 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent other than an electron-withdrawing group; and each of R36, R37, B7 and B8 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent.
