Abstract:
Provided is a photonic bandgap fiber including a core portion and a clad portion
enclosing the core portion. In the clad portion, a high refractive index portion
having a higher refractive index than that of the medium of the clad portion is
arranged to form a triangular lattice structure of a lattice constant (Λ),
and in that the refractive index of the core portion is higher than that of the medium
of the clad portion and lower than that of the high refractive index portion. At
this time, the bond distance between the core and the high refractive index portion
the closest to the core is longer than that between the adjoining high refractive
index portions, or the periodic structure by the high refractive index portion
does not exist over the whole circumference of the core.
