Abstract:
The present invention is: a pigment-in-water dispersing agent comprising a copolymer obtained by the polymerization of (A) at least one reactive unsaturated compound represented by general formula (1) and (B) at least one selection from reactive unsaturated compounds other than component (A); a method for dispersing a pigment in water; and an aqueous coating material.　(In the formula, R1 represents a hydrocarbon group having 8 to 20 carbon atoms; A1 and A2 each independently represent an alkylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms; L represents a group represented by general formula (2); p represents a number from 1 to 10; X represents a hydrogen atom or an ionic hydrophilic group; m represents a number from 15 to 50; and n represents a number from 0 to 100.)　(In the formula, R2 and R3 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and s represents a number from 0 to 12.)
