Title:
PLANETARY GEAR MECHANISM FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1988/000301
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Construction of a dual planetary gear for an automatic transmission mounted on an automobile, the planetary gear being designed so as to distribute the tooth surface pressure of a shorter pinion. One pinion member of one of first and second pinions (P), (Q), for example, a first pinion (P) meshed with a sun gear (S) is meshed with two pinion members (Q1), (Q2) of the other pinion, for example, a second pinion meshed with a ring gear (R2). The torque of the ring gear (R2) (or sun gear S) is transmitted to the sun gear (S) (or ring gear R2) via the pinions (P), (Q). During this time, the sun gear (S) and pinion member of the first-mentioned pinion (P) contact each other at one position, whereas the ring gear (R2) and pinion members (Q1), (Q2) of the second-mentioned pinion contact each other at two positions. This enables the tooth surface pressure occurring between the ring gear (R2) and pinion members (Q1), (Q2) of the second-mentioned pinion to be distributed.
